Author Guidelines

The formation of the publication portfolio is based on the norms of copyright and related legal norms set forth in the Russian legislation, ethical principles supported by the community of leading publishers of scientific periodicals. The editorial board of the journal is responsible for making a decision on publication based on the reliability, scientific significance and relevance of the work under consideration.
The editorial board expects the authors offering their materials for publication in the journal to comply with the following principles:

  • originality of the research;
  • provision of reliable results of the work;
  • objective discussion of the significance of the research;
  • recognizing the contribution of others, obligatory presence of bibliographic references to the used works;
  • presentation of information from confidential sources only with their permission;
  • presentation of information about all co-authors who made a significant contribution to the study;
  • approval of the final version of the work by all co-authors and their full consent to submit it for publication;
  • immediate reporting of the author's discovery of significant errors or inaccuracies in the publication and cooperation with the editorial board to correct errors or withdraw the publication as soon as possible, timely correction of errors and inaccuracies identified by the editorial board.

Articles should correspond to the thematic profile of the journal, meet international standards of scientific publications and be formatted in accordance with the established rules. All texts should be written in literary language, edited and correspond to the scientific style of speech. Incorrect selection and unreliability of facts, quotations, statistical and other data, proper names, geographical names and other information provided by the authors can be the reason for rejection of the submitted material (including - at the registration stage).
The author who sends an article to the journal expresses his consent to its publication in the journal, to its placement in the public domain on the official page of the journal on the Internet, to the transfer of the text of the article (including references, bibliographic information, etc.) to persons to whom the provision of this information is mandatory, or to other persons in order to provide an opportunity to cite the publication and increase the citation index of the author and the journal.
The decision on the publication of materials is made by the editorial board, which can accept for publication, recommend the author to finalize the article or reject the materials.
The Editorial Board reserves the right to make abbreviations and editorial changes to the manuscript.
Author's materials published in the Journal reflect the authors' personal point of view, which may differ from the point of view of the Editorial Board.

All manuscripts are checked for plagiarism using special software: Antiplagiat. If borrowings are detected, a decision on rejection of the manuscript may be made depending on the circumstances.

To publish an original article, authors must comply with the following requirements for submission to the Editorial Board.

1. General Requirements

  • The article and all data to the article should be designed according to the template and sent through the electronic editorial office of the journal. Initially it is necessary to register yourself on this site as an author and then register the publication. Authors registered on the journal's website get the opportunity to upload the article to the journal's database independently and further monitor the status of their publications. Instructions on how to register and submit articles can be found here.
  • For each submitted article it is necessary to submit to the editorial office of the journal a completed and signed License Agreement, as well as the Consent to the processing of personal data. For the publication of the works of students (if the student publishes independently without co-authors who are employees and teachers of the university) additionally requires the recommendation of a supervisor. In advance, these documents should be uploaded to the system when sending the article in section 4 “Upload additional files”.
  • In the file of the article sent for approval or correction, editor's edits highlighted in color should be saved, author's edits should also be highlighted in color.
  • When submitting an article to the journal, the author must provide the ORCID identifier. ORCID is an international identifier of authors, which after publication contributes to the best distribution of the author's articles. To get this identifier the author should register on the website: https://orcid.org/register.
  • The originality of the article should be at least 75 - 80%.
  • Verbatim copying of own works and their paraphrasing (self-plagiarism) is not allowed, they can be used only as a basis for new conclusions.
  • Publications for consideration for the next issue of the Journal should be registered and uploaded to the database of the Journal no later than 3 months before the issue is published.
  • Authors are not charged for publication. No honorarium is paid to the authors.
  • In case of temporary malfunctions in the electronic editorial system, materials may be sent by e-mail to pravonauka2022@donstu.ru.

2 Formatting of the scientific article

2.1 The file with the text is named “Surname_First 2-4 words of the article title”. An example of design is presented in the template.

  • The recommended volume of the text of the scientific article: up to 40 thousand characters with spaces (1 auth. l.).
  • The volume of communications, reviews and other materials - up to 8 thousand characters.
  • The electronic version is created in Microsoft Word and saved with the extension .rtf, .docx or .doc. Page format - A4 (book), margins - 2 cm, alignment - width. Typeface - Times New Roman, font size - 12, spacing - 1.5 lines, paragraph indent 0.5 cm (according to the template of the article design). The font color of the article is black, typeface and font size are the same.
  • Manual hyphenation is not allowed. It is forbidden to use double spaces/spaces in the text as indents (red line).
  • Notes and references to unreviewed sources to the text are arranged in the form of page footnotes.
  • Tables are located directly in the text of the article. The title of the table must be indicated.
  • Graphic materials (figures, graphs) are numbered in the order of their mentioning in the text and placed in the text after the paragraphs containing a reference to them. Any graphical material should be signed.
  • All tables and figures borrowed from other sources must have references to the source of origin. Figures and tables compiled by the authors should be labeled (developed by the authors).

3 Requirements to the structure of the submitted manuscript

3.1 The title of the article, information about the authors, abstract, keywords and acknowledgements should be written in Russian with obligatory duplication in English. Machine translation is not allowed.

3.2 The structure of the article should comply with the IMRAD standard. When preparing the article for publication in the journal, the following points should be taken into account:

—  Specify the Universal Decimal Classification Index (UDC).

The title (heading) of the article should be brief (no more than 10-12 words), informative, concise, correspond to the scientific style of the text and reflect the considered problematics, its essence.

Initials and surname of the authors (not more than 4): with references to contact information (place of work (study) of the author (-s) organization); city, country, e-mail, phone number (at the authors' request). It is necessary to include in the affiliation field the e-mail address of one of the authors (corresponding author). (When transliterating full names, the author should adhere to their uniform spelling in all articles).

The abstract (a brief summary of the article, 200-250 words) should summarize the objectives of the study, the main results and the main conclusions of the study (given in Russian and English). The structure of the abstract should be as follows:

  • Introduction: describes the existing scientific problem, its relevance to the current research agenda, emphasizes unresolved problems or unexplored areas, the resulting problems that the authors want and/or can solve, formulates the purpose of the work.
  • Materials and Methods: gives information about the object of research, describes the research methods or techniques, if necessary, describes the sequence of research.
  • Results: the author's research results, which are obtained in the described work.
  • Discussion and Conclusion: discusses the results obtained in the course of the research, indicates the theoretical/practical significance and prospects of the research.

Keywords: terms or stable word combinations that constitute the semantic core of the article and serve to describe the problem under study. These words serve as a guide for the reader and are used to search for articles in electronic databases, so they should reflect the field of research within which the article is written. As keywords can be used both single words and word combinations in singular and nominative case, reflecting the topic of the article. The recommended number of keywords is 5-10.

Acknowledgements: in this section the authors express their gratitude to colleagues for their help; gratitude for financial support of the research (for samples see the sample acknowledgements section).

All the information listed above, from the indication of the UDC to the acknowledgements, is then given in English in a mandatory manner!

The main text of the article is obligatory in Russian, additionally it is possible to attach a version of full-text translation into English according to the IMRAD structure:

  1. Introduction.
  2. Materials and Methods.
  3. Results.
  4. Discussion and Conclusion.

These sections should be highlighted with appropriate subheadings and contain relevant information.

Important! In no case the text of the article and abstract should be duplicated verbatim! These are completely different sections of the manuscript in terms of style, detail and volume!

The given parts should be distinguished by appropriate subheadings and relevant information should be presented in these sections in the following sequence:

  • Introduction: statement of the problem, reflection of its relevance, theoretical and practical significance, the degree of scientific development (review of relevant scientific sources), describes the value and uniqueness of this study, goals, objectives, key hypotheses (1-1.5 pages).
  • Materials and methods: a report on the course of the study with disclosure of information about the object of research and description of methodology.
  • Results: a statement of the systematized conclusions of the authors (evidence of the working hypothesis), made in the process of the study with reference to analytical and/or statistical material (it is advisable to place tables, graphs, illustrations, etc.).
  • Discussion and conclusion: a brief, clear and concise description of the results of the study with the interpretation of the obtained data, with conclusions regarding the confirmation of the working hypothesis by the results of the study, achievement of the set goal. The theoretical / practical significance of the conducted research is emphasized and the prospects for further research in this area are identified. It is recommended to use new phrases previously unused in the article.
  • Referances: it is compiled in the order of citation; it is designed in accordance with the requirements of GOST R 7.0.100-2018; it includes scientific materials posted in the scientific databases WOS or Scopus, and other sources used in the article (at least 15-20) and related to the issues under study. In the list of references it is allowed to self-cite the author in the amount of no more than 10% of the total number of sources used. References” in the Roman alphabet is a full analog of the list of literature with sources in Russian. When drawing up the list of references in English, after the description of the Russian-language source at the end of the reference there is an indication of the language of the work: (In Russ.). Non-refereed sources (newspaper articles, encyclopedias, normative legal acts, materials of law enforcement practice, etc.) are put in footnotes on the page and are not included in the list of references. Normative legal acts, state programs, quantitative data, quotations should have references to the source. References to unpublished documents are not recommended. References to literature or other sources in the text are formalized by numbers enclosed in square brackets (e.g., [1]). References should be sequentially numbered according to the order of mentioning in the text of the manuscript.

Information about the authors. Contains full surname, first name and patronymic of the authors; position, official name of the organization without abbreviations, address of the organization (it is required to indicate all places of work of the author, where the research was performed (permanent place, place of project implementation, etc.)); detailed information about the authors: degree, title, position, ORCID, ResearcherID, Scopus ID, SPIN-code, e-mail, contact phone number, postal address for sending the author's copy. It is given in Russian and English.

Contribution of co-authors. At the end of the manuscript the authors should indicate the actual contribution of each co-author to the completed work. The order of the authors and co-authors of the article is agreed by them independently. Information is given in Russian and English.

4. Procedure of manuscript passing through the Editorial Department

4.1 The date of receipt of a manuscript by the Editorial Office is considered to be the day when the number in the database is assigned to the article uploaded by the author by the Editorial Office.

4.2 Manuscripts submitted to the editorial office are sent for “blind” review to one or two doctors of sciences, who have the closest scientific specialization to the subject of the article.

4.3 Based on the positive review(s), the article is queued for printing.

4.4 Denial of publication may occur for the following reasons:

  • the given article has been previously published by the author in another edition;
  • inconsistency with the subject matter and objectives of the journal;
  • low level of originality and scientificity;
  • improperly formatted articles;
  • the author refuses to carry out technical revisions of the article or eliminate other errors identified by the reviewers and the editor of the journal.

4.5 After the decision to accept the article for publication is made, the manuscript is sent for literary Russian and English editing. The editorial revision is agreed with the author.

4.6 After literary editing, the manuscript is accepted for publication in the next collection currently in progress.

Please note that the editorial board does not start working with the publications registered and uploaded to the journal database if they are not prepared in accordance with the above rules (no serial number is assigned and manuscripts are not submitted for review).

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. This article has not been previously published, nor has it been submitted for review and publication in another journal (or an explanation of this is given in the Comments to the Editor).

  2. The file of the article to be sent is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF or WordPerfect document format.

  3. Full internet addresses (URL) for links are provided where possible.

  4. Text is typed at one and a half line spacing; 14 point font size is used; italics are used for emphasis, not underlining (except for Internet addresses); and all illustrations, graphs, and tables are located at appropriate places in the text, not at the end of the document.

  5. The text follows the stylistic and bibliographic requirements described in the Guidelines for Authors, located on the About the Journal page.
